Seen Unseen is a painting series based on microscopy images generated in the Central Saint Martins Grow Lab and The Francis Crick Institute.
After eight years of formal training in painting Kirsten wanted to work with scientific tools to discover how a practice of art and science might lead to new work and discoveries. The final paintings fuse the strange, detailed structures of the microscopic world with the luscious, fleshy language of oil painting.
Works from the series have been shown at Body of Earth group show at Camberwell College of Art and Future Ecologies group show at Broadworks as part of Bass Tone Regeneration for Earth Night by Lin Kam Arts.
